The Best of Christmas : Days 19 & 20

Coming at ya’ with another double whammy today, and I can’t believe its the 20th already, that’s mental.

So lets get straight into it, behind door 19 & 20 are a couple of unparalleled Christmas classics. Its only Home Alone 1 & 2.

Like the rest of you, I like to pretend that Home Alone 3,4 and 5 don’t even exist. Once in HMV I found all 5 Home Alone’s priced lower than just the original two....People will literally pay more to avoid the last 3 films. Damn straight.

Anyway, I won’t go on about the plot because I’m sure you’ve all seen them, and if you haven’t...Are you feeling okay?

But, the reason I love Home Alone SO much is because it’s one of the first movies I ever watched, where I laughed until I cried. The acting by Joe Pesci and Daniel Stern is ridiculously good.

The bricks off the roof scene in ‘Lost in New York’ has to be one of the funniest things I have ever seen, and my families favourite moment will always be, “That was the sound of a tool chest, falling down the stairs.” Absolutely brilliant. The soundtrack is jazzy and fun and the writing is iconic. Home Alone is a cultural gem that our generation will quoting for decades.

My only critique is that when Kevin asks Donald Turkeybrain for toilet directions, he should have just punched him in the nuts. But hey, you can’t have everything.

So there you have it! Make sure you stay tuned the next few days for my top 3 Christmas films of all time, and with Christmas right round the corner, I hope you’re all being kind to yourselves and your loved ones.

Thanks for reading and stay merry,

Elise, out.
